College football rankings: Phil Steele releases projected 2014 AP poll

With spring practices wrapping up around the country, that means that the 2014 college football season is that much closer, which also means it’s time to debate who will be the preseason number one this summer; and there is no one better to get that discussion started than expert Phil Steele, who released his projected AP rankings on Wednesday.

1. Florida State Seminoles

2. Alabama Crimson Tide

 3. Oregon Ducks

4. Auburn Tigers

5. Oklahoma Sooners

6. Ohio State Buckeyes

7. UCLA Bruins

8. Michigan State Spartans

9. Baylor Bears

10. South Carolina Gamecocks

Coming off the season they had in 2013, it’s no surprise that he sees the Seminoles taking the top spot, especially given the fact that they return Heisman winning QB Jameis Winston.

Alabama fans will be more than happy if they were able to grab that number two spot, as Steele projects. After what happened at the end of last season, they would love for nothing more than to have yet another chip on their shoulders as they seek to get back to playing for a national championship.

College football season is nearly around the corner, and we want to know what your thoughts are on these projections. Let us know in the comments below.

How many years have voters placed Oregon near the top of the poll to begin the year? Alabama with a chip on their shoulder due to being ranked #2? They shouldn’t be in the top 5. They def should not be rankd above Auburn or Oklahoma, both being their last 2 games/losses while having to replace a 3yr starter at QB.
