Jimmy Fallon is starting to settle into his gig as the new host of The Tonight Show rather well as he’s brining back old bits form his previous late night show and fine tuning them. One thing we’ve seen Fallon make famous is his hilarious and often brilliant covers of classic songs by popular artists.
His Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan impersonations are spot-on and always brilliant and he roped in Oscar winning actress and Broadway star Anne Hathaway to help with his latest bit. Rather than put on an impersonation, Fallon and Hathaway took a stroll down gangsta rap memory lane and converted, among other songs, ‘Gin and Juice’ by Snoop Dogg,
The result was both hilarious and amazing:
This seems to be the most popular of Fallon’s schticks, as he’s a talented performer and also a gifted musician. This particular bit also relied not he musical strengths of Anne Hathaway, who likely earned a lot of bonus points with those generally unfamiliar with who she is.
Had you said ten years ago that the girl from The Princess Diaries was going to be covering Snoop Dogg songs, you’d have been laughed out of the room. But that’s the train of comedic thought that Fallon and his writing staff have and it’s helped relaunch The Tonight Show in a big way.
