The NBA MVP race this season has been a two-horse race between Miami Heat star LeBron James and Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder. While it was a close race at the early part of the season, Durant began to distance himself from the remainder of the field as the year progressed.
Now, with the regular season winding down, James appears to be conceding in the race and acknowledging that Durant is the most deserving winner.
“I think K.D. has had one heck of a season, and if he was rewarded with the MVP, it would be great,” James said, via Joe Goodman of the Miami Herald. “It would be awesome for him, for his family. It would be a great thing for him. He has played MVP-type basketball.”
LeBron added, Durant has been “the most consistent basketball player as far as MVP this year. He has put up some great numbers.”
This season, Durant is averaging an incredible 32.0 points, 5.6 assists and 7.6 rebounds per game. LeBron’s season averages are 26.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.9 rebounds per game.
Both players have had fantastic seasons, but there is no denying Durant has been the most impressive player all season long.
