A few months ago, the Boston Red Sox suggested that center field was Jackie Bradley‘s position to lose.
But a few roster moves later and it was Shane Victorino starting the season as the Boston center fielder. Unfortunately for the Flyin Hawaiian, he ended up on the disabled list just days into the season allowing the Red Sox to recall Bradley who has taken off with the job.
Bradley has been so impressive, in fact, that the job could be his to keep even when Victorino returns from the disabled list.
Again, that view is subject to change between now and the time when Victorino returns from the disabled list. After all, the team is basing its assessments on a very small set of games. But at this moment, the Red Sox are already facing a host of roster decisions that are very different from the ones that confronted them during spring training. What had been an “either/or” may be emerging as an “and.”
Yes, lots can change, even the course of a few days, but Bradley has shown he belongs as a starting outfielder for the Red Sox.
