NBA Draft 2014: Joel Embiid officially declares

The college career of Joel Embiid officially ams to an end today when the Jayhawks big man officially declared his intentions to enter the NBA Draft. The deadline to do so is April 15th, but Embiid ended months of speculation with his announcement today.

There had been months of speculation as to what Embiid was planning on doing. There were rumblings that he was thinking about returning for his sophomore year at Kansas but if he was considering that he obviously went a different direction.

No matter what he was thinking or almost did, the facts are that the mammoth Embiid is entering a draft where he very well could be the No. 1 overall pick and won’t likely slip out of the top 5. His injured back is cornering but not so much so that it’ll turn him into this year’s Nerlens Noel.

Embiid can still back out and change his mind but the deadline to officially make a decision is next Tuesday.
