The Golden State Warriors haven’t clinched their playoff birth yet, but doing so is all but inevitable. But with a handful of games to go in the season, the Warriors could find themselves as high as the Western Conference’s fifth seed or as low as the eighth seed.
Not wanting to fall any further than their current sixth spot, Warriors head coach Mark Jackson says he won’t rest any of his key players before the playoffs as he’s looking to secure the franchise their best possible seed.
Jackson won’t rest players when Warriors clinch playoff berth, because just making postseason isn’t enough. They want best seed possible.
The Warriors hold just a two game lead over the Phoenix Suns for the West’s final playoff spot and would be matched up with the extremely hot San Antonio Spurs in a first round matchup – not exactly the most enviable position.
It’s possible Jackson could change his plan if the Warriors do know they’ll avoid the Spurs or Oklahoma City Thunder, but for now, it’s wheels to the floor for the Warriors.
