We’ve heard the back and forth rumors surrounding Pau Gasol and his future with the Los Angeles Lakers. One day the Lakers reportedly want to bring him back, the next not so much. Even Gasol himself seems conflicted by the idea of staying or returning – that’s assuming the Lakers even want to keep him.

But his future seems to be in serious doubt, at least according to Justin Verrier of ESPN who appears to believe that Gasol’s time with the Lakers is all but over.

"Now, after this recent spate of vertigo, it appears likely that his finale has, appropriately, already come and gone. Maybe Gasol will receive some sort of curtain call from his bench seat at one of the remaining four home games as the Lakers, with their loss total creeping closer and closer to 60, play out the string. Otherwise, all that appears to be left is that inevitable last thank-you tweet to fans, and maybe one more this summer to say goodbye."

Gasol may never have been that franchise talent next to Kobe Bryant or the overly vocal and dominant post player, but he was still a vital role to the organization and significantly helped them win multiple NBA Championships.

If it is indeed the end, it certainly wasn’t storybook.
