A key welterweight bout between Tyron Woodley and Rory MacDonald has been in the works for the past few weeks, and now the bout has become official. On Tuesday night, MMAFighting.com confirmed that the bout has been officially set for UFC 174 in Vancouver.
The news comes right after Woodley signed a new eight-fight deal to remain with the promotion.
The winner of Woodley vs. MacDonald will become the next No. 1 contender in the UFC’s 170-pound division.
Woodley (13-2) is 3-1 during his time in the UFC, with two big wins over Josh Koscheck and Carlos Condit in his last two outings. Meanwhile, MacDonald had a five-fight winning streak snapped by Robbie Lawler at UFC 167 in November, before rebounding with a win over Demian Maia at UFC 170.
UFC 174 takes place June 14 at the Rogers Arena.
