Ultimate Warrior's death caused by 'catastrophic medical condition'

On Tuesday night, the WWE world was left in shock after news surfaced that James Hellwig, better known by his stage name The Ultimate Warrior, passed away at the age of 54 after collapsing on his way to his car outside of an Arizona hotel.

The death came following an appearance on Monday Night Raw and after a weekend where he was inducted in to the WWE Hall of Fame.

Details of Hellwig’s death had not been released, but Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports spoke with Scottsdale police spokesman Sergeant Mark Clark about The Ultimate Warrior’s passing and received a statement.

Clark said:

“On April 8 at 5:50 pm 54-year-old “Warrior” James B Hellwig collapsed while walking with his wife to their car at the Gainy Suites Hotel in Scottsdale, Ariz. Scottsdale Fire transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead soon after arrival. At this point in the investigation, it appears as though a catastrophic medical condition caused his death.”

The exact “catastrophic medical condition” has not been revealed, but we should learn more information as the investigation progresses.

We would like to send our thoughts and condolences to the entire Hellwig family as they deal with this incredibly difficult time.
