The Clemson Tigers continued to beef up their offensive line as they added a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Jake Fruhmorgen (Tampa, Fla. Plant) earlier today to pair with No. 1 tackle and No. 3 overall recruit Mitch Hyatt (Suwanee, Ga. North Gwinnett who committed on National Signing Day for 2014 recruits.
The 6-5, 280-pounder comes from a notorious prep power at Plant and and the ninth commitment for Dabo Swinney’s 2015 class which ranks 17th nationally and second in the ACC according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Fruhmorgen picked Clemson over offers from Florida, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State and Alabama where his father played, but he wasn’t interested in continuing the legacy with the Crimson Tide and instead wanted to venture out and forge his own path, which I think is very commendable.
With Hyatt projected as a left tackle, Fruhmorgen should be able to slot in at right tackle where his size, strength and length will give Clemson two talented bookends for freshman quarterback DeShaun Watson in the coming years.
