It was an absolutely huge day for Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers’ football program.
First, 4-star offensive tackle Jake Fruhmorgen gave his pledge to the Tigers.
They followed that up by getting a pledge from 3-star linebacker Chad Smith.
The 6’3, 200-pound Smith attends Dominion High School in Sterling, Virginia.
The Tigers offered Smith back in January.
He is ranked as the 28th best outside linebacker prospect, 17th best overall prospect in the state of prospect and the 399th best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Smith chose the Tigers over offers from the Charlotte 49ers, Illinois Illini, Maryland Terrapins, Old Dominion Big Blue, Virginia Tech Hokies and Wisconsin Badgers, among others.
Smith becomes the 10th member of the 2015 class, joining Fruhmorgen, 5-star offensive tackle Mitch Hyatt, 4-star wide receiver Shaddell Bell, 4-star athlete Van Bell, 3-star safety Tanner Muse, 3-star offensive tackle Noah Green, 3-star quarterback Tucker Israel, 2-star linebacker J.D. Davis and 2-star linebacker Judah Davis.
