Sonos has announced that Google Play Music for Android devices can now cast over to Sonos devices. This means that any user of Google Play Music can now connect their Android device to their Sonos music system, and play tracks directly without using a bridge app.
Sonos also revealed that support for Google Play Music is also coming to its own app which will allow for seamless blending of both Google Music and Sono libraries into one giant collection of songs
Google Play Music allows users to store up to 20,000 songs in an online library that is accessible anywhere where an internet connection exist. Users can also stream over 22 million tracks on demand.
The feature is available now in 25 countries around the world.
This is a feature that users, including myself, have been wanting for some time. Before this functionality came about, it was a bit of a hassle to listen to music stored in Google Play Music over Sonos. Now with the new partnership, it’s becoming easier than ever to listen to music in any room of your house without having to be in front of a receiver or switch between apps.
To get started with the streaming, users in the Sonos app have to select Google Play Music from the services menus, and log in with your registered Gmail account. If you are streaming from the Google Play Music app, then all you have to do is select the cast button to begin streaming your music.
