Missouri Tigers big man Zach Price has been dismissed from the program

Less than a week after being arrested and subsequently suspended from the basketball team, Missouri Tigers big man Zach Price has been dismissed from the program as of Thursday afternoon.

Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch brings news of Price’s dismissal, but frankly, this was nearly a foregone conclusion. Price, who is a former Louisville transfer where he won the 2013 national title, was arrested for domestic assault and 3rd-degree assault last Thursday in Columbia, and Missouri head coach Frank Haith had this to say about the program’s off-court issues.

It is always a shame when a player (or really, a young man) can’t seem to get his act together, but this news is troubling for Price. The situation reportedly involves striking another person with a closed fist and barricading two individuals into an area and refusing to let them leave. Whether the details as we know them are accurate or not, this type of domestic situation is a black mark on the program, and it is easy to see why Missouri and Frank Haith acted somewhat swiftly here.

Hopefully, Price can straighten things out and land on his feet, but it won’t be with the Missouri Tigers.
