MLB Rumors: League investigating Adam Jones' 'spike' comment

I guess Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones is learning you have to be careful what you say as Major League Baseball is currently reviewing his comments about ‘spiking’ a fan.

Jones was pressed by reporters after a fan ran onto the field during a recent game where Jones suggested he’d like to ‘spike’ those who do such with his cleat.

The comment was partly tongue and cheek, sure, but it appears Major League Baseball didn’t enjoy Jones suggesting such.

An Orioles star has some choice words for fans that run onto the field during a game. Now Adam Jones’ comments are being reviewed by Major League Baseball.

Most would side with Jones here (and Major League Baseball would likely agree) as fans running onto the field or court isn’t just stupid, it’s dangerous. Thankfully most incidents turn out just fine but as we’ve seen before, things can turn violent.

There’s simply no room for it at any level and Jones was just reacting to the question, even if it was a little harsh for MLB’s eyes.

It’s doubtful anything comes out it, outside of a possible slap on the wrist for Jones.
