There’s no doubt that Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young has earned an increase in pay this season, so it’s rather likely the former USC talent will decline his player option for the 2014-15 season and become a free agent at season end.

That doesn’t mean Young won’t be returning to the Lakers though.

The former Trojan is a Los Angeles native and has been more than vocal about his desire to remain in Southern California, expressing such a sentiment again today, calling the Lakers ‘home’:

"Nick Young: “This is home. I would love to finish off here as a Laker. My kids get to go to school and say my dads a laker – that’s big!”"

Of course, Young’s future with the Lakers likely depends on what they do in free agency. With plans to lure a big name free agent come the 2015 offseason, the Lakers don’t want many deals hindering their potential cap space, so it’s simply a matter of how much money Young is going to demand.

If it’s team friendly deal, you have to think he’d return. But if not? There might be greener pastures, ‘home’ or not.
