Mike Pouncey was in the news earlier this offseason after being named in the Ted Wells report as one of the men who was responsible for the harassment that ultimately led to Jonathan Martin leaving the Miami Dolphins.
However, Pouncey could soon be in the news for a completely different reason relating to his contract.
The Dolphins are expected to exercise the fifth-year option on Pouncey’s deal next month which will keep him with the team through the 2015 season, but he feels that he has outperformed his current deal and is hoping for a contract extension.
The latest development is outlined in a piece by the Miami Herald.
There is some good news for Pouncey, however.
With the Jacksonville Jaguars offer sheet that is expected to be signed and eventually matched by the Cleveland Browns for Alex Mack that will make him the highest paid center in the league, the market for centers will rise and Pouncey could be in for a significant pay raise.
