The Los Angeles Dodgers are erring on the side of cautious when it comes to overworking outfielder Matt Kemp, and will keep him out of Friday’s lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Dodgers have stated that Yasiel Puig has been cleared to return to the lineup, which means that Andre Ethier will make the move to center field in Kemp’s absence.

This isn’t a surprising move by the Dodgers, as with Puig being available, it keeps them from having to push Kemp too hard and risk further injury to his ankle.

It will probably be at least a couple of weeks of on-off again play for Kemp while he continues to strengthen the ankle.
