After a 45-game absence due to a knee injury suffered in December, San Jose Sharks rookie forward Tomas Hertl is reportedly set to return to the Sharks lineup on Friday night against Colorado.
The team has yet to confirm the return of Hertl, but CSN Bay Area sources are confirming that he will indeed suit up for the first time since December 19.
Before going down with the injury suffered at the hands of a knee-on-knee collision with Kings captain Dustin Brown, Hertl was on pace to take home the NHL’s Calder Trophy for Rookie of the Year. In 35 games this season, Hertl has 15 goals and 25 points.
With Hertl back in the lineup, San Jose gets another dangerous scorer who is a threat to light the lamp every time he has the puck on his stick. Needless to say, the Sharks’ chances of finally hoisting the Stanley Cup have received a major boost.
