College Football Recruiting: Penn State Nittany Lions expected to be new #1 class

With the commitment of 4-star defensive tackle Adam McLean, the Penn State Nittany Lions are expected to jump the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Texas A&M Aggies for the top recruiting class in the class of 2015 in 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings, according to Steve Wiltfong of 24/7 Sports.

McLean became the 12th member of Penn State’s class, joining an impressive list of commits.

  • 4-star wide receiver Juwan Johnson (Glassboro, NJ)
  • 4-star inside linebacker Josh Barajas (Merrillville, IN)
  • 4-star running back Andre Robinson (Harrisburg, PA)
  • 4-star offensive tackle Ryan Bates (Warminster, PA)
  • 4-star offensive guard Steven Gonzalez (Union City, NJ)
  • 4-star athlete Kamonte Carter (Gaithersburg, MD)
  • 4-star running back Saquon Barkley (Whitehall, PA)
  • 4-star wide receiver Brandon Polk (Ashburn, VA)
  • 3-star defensive Ryan Buchholz (Malvern, PA)
  • 3-star defensive end Jake Cooper (Warminster, PA)
  • 3-star safety Jarvis Miller (Suffield, CT)

The job new head coach James Franklin has done since leaving the Vanderbilt Commodores to take over at Penn State has been absolutely incredible. Penn State badly needed an influx of talent and Franklin is delivering.

They likely won’t end up with the top class, but they are bringing in talent that can compete with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
