Just the other day, it was confirmed that former San Diego Chargers/Buffalo Bills Shawne Merriman was joining the World Wrestling Entertainment. But there was no word on what Merriman would be doing with the business.
So what will the WWE do with Merriman? I know that they’re not going to allow him to just sit there and look big, the guy is young enough and strong enough to step into the ring. He wouldn’t be the first football player to step into the squared circle as there are way too many to list.
Now according to NoDQ.com, the WWE could be planning on using him as an announcer. He’ll more than likely start off with NXT while training at the same time, learning the ropes of the business.
Either way, this is huge news for not only the WWE, but wrestling fans across the country. There’s a small chance that fans overseas outside the UK who know who Merriman is. But the company could be hoping that Merriman will become their very own Steve “Mongo” McMichael.
A Super Bowl champion with the 1985 Chicago Bears who worked with the WCW.
