Athletics’ Scott Kazmir pulled from start vs Mariners

Left-handed starting pitcher Scott Kazmir and the Oakland Athletics were taking on Robinson Cano and the Seattle Mariners today.

So far this year, Oakland’s starting rotation has taken a couple deadly blows, one being the loss of Jarrod Parker for the year and the other involving A.J. Griffin.

Two young pitchers who were supposed to be anchors for this Athletics five man rotation going into the 2014 season. Now today against the Mariners, Kazmir was pulled from the game after velocity dropped according to Susan Slusser on Twitter.

Right now the injury is undisclosed, but it’s obvious that it’s related to his pitching arm. This is something that the Athletics do not need, as I mentioned the loss of two pitchers in Parker and Griffin. But if this is in fact an injury that will require season ending surgery or even a brief stint on the disabled list, Oakland could be bringing up some fresh arms from the farm system.
