Colby Lewis to pitch for Rangers Monday

After not being on a major league mound for a year and a half, Colby Lewis is probably rather antsy to get back into a game.

If the Astros at Rangers game is not rained out Sunday (it’s pretty rainy right now in D/FW, with the game in two hours), then Martin Perez will pitch that game and Colby Lewis will pitch against the Mariners on Monday evening, says Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News.

Lewis, who has been recovering from flexor tendon surgery as well as a hip-refinishing procedure, had an opt-out of his minor league contract with Texas for Thursday, April 10th, but the veteran righty has been patient and understands that this is the way things have to go.

The 35-year old was slated to pitch against the Astros on Saturday, but the delay in a disabled list move for Rangers’ third baseman Adrian Beltre delayed those plans.
