It was a big weekend for the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
They hosted their annual spring game on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, they received a commitment from 3-star linebacker D’Vonta Hitnon.
Hinton attended the game Saturday and it didn’t take long for him to decide on the Red Raiders.
“I went to the spring game yesterday and I enjoyed the atmosphere there,” Hinton told Landon Wright of 24/7 Sports. “It was nice, I had a chance to talk to the head coach and the coaching staff and they really liked me. They believe in me. they do blitzing and all types of things I can fit in the defense well well. Everything felt great, I knew it was the place for me.”
The 5’10, 215-pound Hinton is from Texas City, Texas and attends Texas City High School.
Hinton is ranked as the 45th best inside linebacker prospect, the 173rd best overall prospect in the state of Texas and the 1,204th best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Hinton chose the Red Raiders over offers from the Maryland Terrapins and Utah Utes, among others.
He is the Red Raiders’ fifth commitment in the class of 2015.
