New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter will miss his second straight game on Sunday night against the Boston Red Sox, manager Joe Girardi announced, as he continues to nurse a nagging quad injury.
Girardi said Jeter has a tight quad. No tests scheduled. Decided to give him a second straight day off (plus Monday off day).

Even before the season began, Jeter’s last as a Major League player, Girardi did mention that Jeter would get as much rest throughout the year as he sees fit, despite this being the Yankee legend’s farewell tour.
With Jeter out of the lineup on Saturday, the Yankees were still able to get the win over the hated Red Sox behind the power of two Brian McCann home runs as New York clings to their third place position in the AL East behind the Blue Jays and the Rays.
So far in this young season, Jeter is batting .286 with no home runs and just one run batted in.
