Dustin Pedroia headed to Boston for tests on sore wrist

The Boston Red Sox are set to travel to Chicago this week for a series against the White Sox starting on Tuesday. As of now, however, star second baseman Dustin Pedroia has a different travel schedule.

The reason is a sore left wrist. It will keep him out of the lineup Sunday night against the New York Yankees, and according to Nick Cafardo, the Red Sox are concerned enough to send him back to Boston to find out exactly what is going on.

Pedroia has scuffled a bit to start the 2014 season, batting .236/.239/.291 through 12 games with zero home runs and one RBI. It makes sense that the Red Sox will take a step back with one of their team leaders and have him checked out now. Better to have him right for the long haul than for a stretch of games in April and May.
