It’s the start of a new week in Fantasy Baseball which means it’s time to take stock of where your team is and look at what areas of your roster need a boost.  If you’ve been streaming starters or are looking for a two-start candidate for the coming week, Monday’s nine games are a great place to start.

Almost ever afternoon, you can find some recommendations for starting pitchers to target on the waiver wire for either a long-term pickup or just a single start.  Due to my travel schedule, I’ve missed the last few days, but I should be back for the week with daily picks.

All of my selections are available in at least half of ESPN leagues and their ownership percentage is included in parentheses. For our full fantasy baseball coverage, click here, or you can click here for just our starting pitcher focus.

Here are my picks for Monday’s games, and you can find my results so far this season on the final slide.

Jesse Chavez-Oakland Athletics (3.5%)

Chavez and the A’s are in Anaheim taking on the Angels as they continue their roadtrip.  Chavez will be facing Hector Santiago who has been struggling and is off to a 0-2 start with a 7.71 ERA.

Chavez should be able to get a win with a solid start as he takes the mound for the third time this season.  He has allowed just two earned runs in 13 innings pitched while striking out 13 and walking just two.  Chavez hasn’t earned a decision yet, but has been good in both his starts this season.  He still has just four career MLB starts, so there’s definitely risk involved even though he’s one of the best options for Monday.
