Game of Thrones: King Joffrey Puts on a Show (GIFs)

Tonight’s episode of the hit HBO Original Series Game of Thrones has certainly been full of twists and turns. This is the night that the King took young Margaery Tyrell as his bride.

Under normal circumstances, a wedding would be a joyous thing; however, when you have an ego the size of Joffrey’s, sometimes it can become hard to contain yourself from acting like a complete douchebag.

As a man is standing in the center of the room putting on a show, Joffrey notices that his new bride is more enveloped in the show than she is basking in his greatness. It is then that he decides to stand and begin throwing things at the poor man. He offers a golden dragon to anyone who can knock the hat off of his fool’s head.

Finally, Joffrey decides that he is going to take charge of the event. He reminds his subjects that a royal wedding is not about amusement, but is about embracing their history. It is with that he decides to put on a show, that depicts the war of the five kings, paying particular interest to the death of Sansa’s father Ned Stark. Of course, Joffrey and Cersei sit back and laugh as the event is playing out in front of them.

He then directs his attention to Tyrion, mocking him and asking if he would like to challenge his reign and fight amongst the men in the show. Tyrion tells him that he has seen plenty of combat, and would like to keep what is left of his face; however, he suggests that this is a poor imitation of Joffrey’s bravery on the battlefield and suggests that he take his new sword and show the people how a real king wins his battles.

Clearly, Joffrey was not amused by his uncle’s comments as he proceeds to dump his entire cup of wine over Tyrion’s head.

Joffrey then takes the incident a bit further when he commands that Tyrion become his cup bearer. He toys with Tyrion for a little while longer, until Sansa decides to help Tyrion by handing him a goblet for Joffrey.

Thankfully, before the charade could get out of hand, they are interrupted by the arrival of the pie. Otherwise, I think this episode may have taken a completely different route, and we certainly wouldn’t want that to happen.
