Kevin Durant emulates Dirk Nowitzki, his favorite player

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is having a remarkable season that has him in the middle of, if not leading, the MVP discussion. It might surprise you to learn who one of his favorite players in the league is, Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki.

“I don’t know him so well but I’ve always liked the way he goes about his business,” Durant said, via Marc Stein of ESPN.

“And I’ve learned a lot from him by just studying the techniques.”

Durant was quick to clarify that it was more than his signature one-legged fadeaway.

“It’s a lot more than just trying to copy the one-legger,” Durant said. “Dirk’s got a lot of moves I’m trying to steal.”

The comparison is easy given their similar heights and slender frames. Dirk is also a former MVP who lifted a franchise to a NBA title and just worked his way into the top ten all time scoring list.
