Manchester City came into the weekend in third place with 70 points and two games in hand. On Sunday they play league-leading Liverpool who are four points ahead, and this is a game many think could determine who wins the Premier League title as the season winds down.
The biggest concern for Manchester City is slowing down Liverpool’s dynamic strikers, but City boss Manuel Pellegrini wants everyone to remember they have their own potent offense.
“It’s exactly the concern Liverpool will have against our team, if they want to be an attacking team – and they are an attacking team,” Pellegrini said, via ESPN FC.
“But I think we’ve done very well (defensively), Southampton didn’t have many chances to score.
“Of course if you defend with 10 players near your box, you are not going to have space for the other team.
“But the most important thing about these two teams is they play attractive, offensive football. Both teams are very close for this.”
