Michigan State Spartans cornerback Darqueze Dennard is one of the best players at his position in the 2014 NFL Draft, which has led many to believe he could be a top ten selection in May.
One potential landing spot is with the Detroit Lions, where he would already have a built in fan base.
Dennard recently met with the Lions for a pre-draft visit, which he claims “went real well” Dennard added that the team provided him with some good feedback, but with a few weeks to go until the draft Dennard understands that there are still plenty of things that need to play out.
“People say yeah this guy’s going to pick you and that guy, or you hear a lot of players saying I think this team’s going to pick me or this team,” Dennard said, via the Detroit Free Press. “For me, honestly, it’s a toss up. I really don’t know. Everybody says they like me but we’ll find out who really likes me on draft day.
Dennard will be battling with Oklahoma State’s Justin Gilbert to be the top cornerback taken, but it will all come down to team’s preferences based on defensive schemes.
We will find out when draft day comes if Dennard will join the Lions or whether he will slide down the first round and make a team in the middle of the round happy.
