NFL Draft Rumors: TCU star Jason Verrett could be a fit for San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers have the 30th pick in the Draft this May and already it’s looking like they could have their eyes on a potential Defensive Rookie of the Year. TCU cornerback Jason Verrett has stated that he’s eying the Rookie of the Year prize and he could end up winning it in a San Francisco 49ers uniform.

It’s no secret that the rivalry between the Niners and Seahawks is defined by defense and it’s also no secret that Jim Harbaugh likes his defensive studs. Verrett is looking to be one of those studs and Bill Williamson from ESPN.com thinks Harbaugh should take a chance on him.

Per ESPN.com:

Verrett is smallish and he is more of a nickel cornerback than an outside cornerback, but he has a chance to be a star from that position. Defenses are playing from the nickel often, so if you are going to have a nickel on the field, you might as well have a great one and Verrett can become that.

He’s an interesting choice and is viewed as the third best cornerback in his class, so there’s a lot to love about the TCU star. Verrett may not be the tip option at cornerback but he seems to have the skills and passing on another stout cornerback might not be in the cards for Harbaugh.
