The 2014 NFL Draft will be held from May 8 through May 10 in New York City, which means we are entering the final few weeks of decision making for teams around the league. There is still plenty of uncertainty surrounding the first-overall pick, which will affect the way the rest of the round plays out.

The Houston Texans hold the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, and they are believed to be considering either South Carolina defensive standout Jadeveon Clowney or a top passer with the selection.

Recent buzz has the Texans once again leaning towards a quarterback with the pick, and we’d have to believe that is the direction they will go in order to breathe new life into the franchise and allow Bill O’Brien to begin his tenure with the team with “his guy” running the offense.

What prospects could be on your favorite team’s radar?

Here is a look at the latest first-round projections:

No thanks to Jernigan. The Cowboys will not draft a 1 tech with the 16th pick. The D-line will rotate 8 to 9 guys. So its probably not a good idea to draft D-lineman with the 16th pick when they have enormous needs at other positions. If they traded back and got a Kony then maybe. Or if Barr was there at 16 then I would not mind that at all. But the best value for DE’s is in the 2nd round with Crichton, Tuitt, Murphy etc..The two positions of need with the best value in the 1st round is OT if Martin is there or FS if Dix or Pryor is there. Also Jernigan has motor questions. That is another reason for concern for taking him at 16.

I do agree there are some concerns there, but the Cowboys need to really reload that line and they have indicated they plan on drafting guys in the front seven early and often.

They also need a Safety, LB, DE, OT, OG etc….Last year they passed on Floyd because he was a 1 tech and Marinelli doe not value them in the 1st round. They also signed 3 d-lineman already in FA. Im not saying they should not draft a Dt but they can get a value guy later in the 4th or 5th round with a guy like Carun Reid etc..

Ward over Mosley is insane!!! That needs no explanation.

Ward is a PERFECT fit in Green Bay.

But not with the 21st pick. Few scouts that I have read things from have him listed in the 1st round. If Mosely is there at 21, which is doubtful, then the Packers take him without question.

Ward will likely be there in the second round.

Mosley is a PERFECT fit in Green Bay too, and he’s a much higher value pick, and TT loves value. Another thing that makes more sense for Mosley at 21, the fact that the ILB group is weak and we need an upgrade. After Mosley the ILB drop off is tremendous, well other than Shazier but it’ll depend on where he goes if he’s an ILB or not, hopefully Green Bay if Mosley is gone. The Safety position is nowhere near as weak as the ILB position, so taking a Safety at 53 would be a far less gap than adding a Safety 1st and then ILB, Mosley’s alone with his ability to cover and play sideline to sideline would bring much more impact to this D than Ward alone, possibly even more than Pryor or Dix would bring alone Adding Mosley at 21 with possibly somebody like Bucannon or Terrence Brooks in the 2nd, or even with just Hyde at FS is gonna bring a lot more value and impact than Ward with 1 of the lesser ILB’s or just with our current ILB group. Taking Mosley at 21 makes a lot more sense from a value and impact standpoint, so if my argument for Mosley at 21 don’t change your mind guess we just have to agree to disagree.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m not arguing against Ward in general, I would love him on GB, just against the idea of him at 21 with better value at other areas of need still on the board. I believe getting a sideline to sideline ILB is as important as Safety, and odds are we could probably select Mosley or Shazier in the 1st n if Teddy T really wanted Ward, he could get aggressive n move up 15 or so spots in the 2nd n still get Ward, as long as nobody else reaches for him in the 1st, that would be extremely awesome. Mosley or Shazier with Ward, hopefully TT gets aggressive to make something like that happen, its possible because our D could really use it since he wasn’t really aggressive to fix anything in FA at those 2 spots. Who knows what’ll happen though.
