Baltimore Orioles ball girl fields live ball (Video)

They say one of the charms of baseball is the element of human error and while there has been a lot made about instant replay fixing that, sometimes you just can’t account for the things that happen at a baseball game.

Case in point is the Baltimore Orioles ball girl fielding a ball she thought was foul but ended up actually being live. Her reaction of pure embarrassment tells a thousand stories.

This isn’t the first time someone has interfered with a live ball in this fashion and it likely won’t be the last. The play eventually resulted in a group rule double for the Blue Jays who ended up winning the game.

The ball girl can’t be blamed for the loss, as the Orioles had chances to win after that and failed to come through, but her interference with the play reminds us that instant replay can improve the game but it can’t eradicate every single error.
