It may be only for a short while, but a fan favorite is returning to Toronto’s 25-man roster.

In the wake of the Maicer Izturis injury in the first inning of the Blue Jays-Orioles game on Sunday, the team has recalled Munenori Kawasaki, according to John Lott of the National Post.

More roster moves loom when [Jose] Reyes and [Casey] Janssen return, so Kawasaki’s stay could be short and the bullpen composition will undoubtedly change. Unless, of course, someone else gets hurt, which has been a regular occurrence for the Blue Jays over the past two years

Kawasaki endeared himself to Toronto fans with his hard work and infectiously likable personality, most notably on display here:

Jose Reyes has been on the DL since tweaking a hamstring injury in the pre-season series in Montreal, but is expected to return fairly soon. Kawasaki is just a stop gap until then, but if something goes wrong in the rehab process for Reyes, he could be up for a while.
