Even before last Monday’s NCAA Tournament Final got started, Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari was the topic hot discussion as it pertains to the Los Angeles Lakers head coaching position, which may be vacant after this season is over.
On Monday morning, one day from his much-anticipated book release, Calipari joined the crew of the Dan Patrick Show in studio to address the Lakers rumors, as well as talk about the one-and-done rule that has been the topic of some controversy as Cal gets set to potentially lose seven of his players from his team to the NBA.
As you can tell, Calipari completely shot down the talk of him joining the Lakers as he said that he hasn’t had any discussions with the organization whatsoever. But, should Mike D’Antoni indeed be fired, that could change quickly.
It was also interesting to hear him talk about players staying for at least two years, a stance that a lot of people have agreed with recently.
