Whether it turns out to be simply a fad or the next big thing in gaming, Virtual Reality gaming is coming soon to the public. The Oculus Rift is close to seeing a public release while Sony is hard at work creating their own VR device that will be compatible with the PlayStation 4.
YouTube user, and modder, Chadtronic has already found ways to play Metroid Prime, The Legend of Zelda and Mario Kart, among others, on the Oculus Rift VR device. Now, the modder has found a way to play Super Mario 64 on the Rift using Dolphin Emulator, TriDef3D and XPadder.
After watching the video you can tell that, even without playing it for yourself, trying to do first-person platforming is no easy task, and the controls are pretty difficult. Still, it looks pretty cool seeing one of the best Super Mario games of all-time in a different perspective, even if that perspective is one that gives me headaches.
