ESPN lists 25 highest paid athletes in the world

ESPN The Magazine released a cool infographic on the highest-paid athletes in the world. It starts by listing the top 25 regardless of sport, and it is based solely on base salary or prize money and does not include endorsement deals.

Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr unsurprisingly sits atop the table with $73.5 million earned, a clear $23.3 million gap between him and second place on the list which is Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo earning $50.2 million. His La Liga rival from Barcelona, Lionel Messi, comes in third barely behind him earning $50.1 million.

It also breaks down the highest paid stars by sport, hard to believe LeBron James barely makes the NBA’s list, tied for No. 9. LeBron James doesn’t even make the overall top 25 list. The only NBA player to crack the top 25 overall is Kobe Bryant.

They also list the five highest spending teams in the world, led by the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees.
