Miami Hurricanes basketball player Erik Swoope enters NFL draft

Erik Swoope is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Jimmy Graham as a former Miami Hurricanes basketball player turned NFL player. Today, the 6-5, 220-pound forward put his name in the NFL draft mix after averaging a career-high five points per game in 18.4 minutes.

At 6-5, he could project as a wide receiver or flex tight end, but it may be tough to envision hearing his name called during the seven-round draft in May, but he will hope to catch on somewhere as an undrafted free agent somewhere and look to standout at a rookie minicamp where he could land on a team’s practice squad his rookie year and learn the game of football.

Unlike Graham, who played a season for the Hurricanes football team, Swoope has zero football experience but has worked out for the Denver Broncos.
