The Jacksonville Jaguars own the third overall pick in the draft and they’re already thinking about the numerous ways they can spend the pick. There’s always the option of trading down because the likelihood that Johnny Manziel is on the board is rather high.
But while the Jaguars could trade down with a team who wants to trade up and draft Manziel, some believe it should be Jacksonville who drafts him rather than holding him ransom. Tight end Marcedes Lewis isn’t telling the Jaguars what they should do, but he told TMZ that he believes the team should take him.
Among the other things Lewis said about Manziel — outside of calling him dope — was the acknowledgment of this confidence. Lewis hasn’t had the luxury of gifted passing quarterbacks in the past and while Manziel is better known as a mobile quarterback, Lewis is clearly intrigued by the idea of someone with the confidence to throw him the ball in tight spots.
There’s no guarantee that Manziel will be any good, but Lewis is willing to take that chance.
