Usain Bolt says goal is to finish season injury-free

Currently dealing with a foot injury, Usain Bolt recently opened up to the Jamaica Gleaner about his recovery process, telling the paper he hopes to make it through the 2014 season without suffering another health-related setback.

Via Olympic Talk:

“My experience [the foot injury] has taught me that that’s just the nature of the sport. Setbacks are a part of track and field. I have come to accept that a long time ago. I had mine, and [I'm] now back in training preparing for the upcoming season.

“I just want to run some fast times and finish the season injury free so I can focus on these three major championships coming up.”

(For those unaware, the three major championships are the 2015 IAAF World Championships, the 2016 Olympics, and the 2017 IAAF World Championships.)

Bolt did not say if he’ll be competing in the inaugural World Relay Championships this year, which will be held from May 24-25 in Nassau, Bahamas.
