USC football: Cody Kessler named Trojans starter

The speculation on who will be the USC Trojans starting quarterback for the 2014 college football season can now be put to rest. After Tuesday’s spring practice, USC head coach Steve Sarkisian named Cody Kessler the team’s starter for the season-opener.

From Mike Piellucci of 247 Sports:

Evan Budrovich of the Conquest Chronicle shared some additional comments from Sarkisian that praised Kessler’s performance and attitude on the field.

Last season, Kessler recorded 2,968 yards, 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions despite some offensive issues that plagued the Trojans when Lane Kiffin was running the show.
