2014 WNBA Draft was most watched ever

On Monday night, the 2014 WNBA Draft was held at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., with live coverage available on ESPN2. According to Nielsen, the draft averaged 413,000 viewers which made it the most-watched WNBA Draft ever on ESPN2. It also became the second-most viewed WNBA Draft ever.

The numbers were a nine percent increase from last year’s viewership.

The top markets in viewership were Hartford-New Haven (1.9 rating); Lexington (1.7); Las Vegas (1.0); Nashville (0.9) and Albuquerque (0.8).

With the first pick, the Connecticut Sun selected Stanford’s Chiney Ogwumike, who joins her sister, Nneka Ogwumike, as No. 1 overall picks. They become the first siblings to be taken No. 1 overall since Peyton and Eli Manning.
