Although there have been a few standouts, the Nebraska Cornhuskers certainly need to upgrade their talent at their skill positions.
They took a nice step towards doing that on Wednesday when they got a commitment from 3-star wide receiver Spencer Tears.
The 6’2, 175-pound Tears attends Harold L. Richards High School in in Oak Lawn, Illinois.
“He went up there with his family and really had a good time,” Tears’ head coach Tony Sheehan said. “He got to see the place, loved what he saw. They just fell in love with the place. They thought that was the right place. He came back talked with his mom and they went over pros and cons of all the places he’s been and have recruited him so far. They just felt Nebraska was the right place and he didn’t want to waste any time.”
Tears is ranked as the 88th best wide receiver prospect, the 12th best overall prospect in the state of Illinois and the 632nd best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Tears also had offers from Akron Zips, Indiana Hoosiers and Purdue Boilermakers, among others.
