Wednesday morning, the race to become the quarterback to take over for Johnny Manziel as the Texas A&M Aggies quarterback took a strange turn when Matt Joeckel announced that he would be transferring, leaving the job open to freshman Kyle Allen to take.
Initially it was reported that Joeckel did not have a school specifically in mind to transfer to, but now the Forth Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that the veteran back up could be heading to join Gary Patterson and the TCU Horned Frogs.

This wouldn’t be that shocking of a turn, seeing as Patterson could use the quarterback help and Joeckel is eligible to play immediately.
Patterson has already spoken about using a more fast-paced offense this season, and Joeckel has the two years of experience under Kevin Sumlin to help tremendously with that scheme transition. As of right now, Trevone Boykin is slated to the Horned Frogs starter, however Joeckel would undoubtedly be a much better fit.
