NBA Rumors: Kobe Bryant opts for trip to France instead of Lakers season finale

The Los Angeles Lakers will finish up their historically bad season on Wensday night against the San Antonio Spurs, but Kobe Bryant won’t be in attendance.

Bryant, who was scheduled to speak to Lakers fans at their final home game of the season on Sunday but didn’t as he arrived late, apparently decided to head across the Atlantic rather than join the Lakers in The Alamo.

While the Lakers prepared for their last game of the season, Kobe Bryant was already beginning his off-season.

Bryant went to France with family members either Tuesday or Wednesday, the Los Angeles Times has learned. The Lakers conclude their season Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs.

The fact Bryant decided to skip the season finale in favor of Europe isn’t so much a story as Bryant wouldn’t been there for anything other than moral support. The bigger story is Bryant knowing what doing so would look like to the Lakers front office, likely attempting to send a message regarding his frustration, with whom he’s already publicly blasted.

Sending a message is what he needs to do. It’s what we, the fans, would rather him do then just sit there and act like everything is ok. Acting like everything was alright would be the wrong message for the front office. Boycotting the games sends a message of urgency to the FO.You dont pay a guy 40 mil to have him sit there all pissed off.
