The Cleveland Browns cut ties with quarterback Brandon Weeden, and could be looking to draft a quarterback if they’re not feeling particularly confident in Brian Hoyer to be the franchise leader. Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman thinks the Browns have already pegged their man, Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr.
“They love him. They really love him,” Freeman writes.
Now the Browns own the fourth overall pick in the 2014 draft, but that isn’t where the Browns are likely to select Carr. He isn’t pegged as a top 10 pick, or even named regularly amongst the top quarterbacks in the draft, so Freeman says “the feeling” is that the Browns will take Carr at the end of the first round with the 26th pick they received from the Indianapolis Colts.
Don’t tell Carr that he isn’t the best quarterback in the draft though, Carr said on NFL AM that he’s “absolutely” the best quarterback in this class. in the 2013 season with Fresno State, Carr threw for 5,083 yards completing 68.9 percent of his passes for a ridiculous 50 touchdowns with only eight interceptions.
