Stanley Cup Playoffs 2014: Flyers G Ray Emery to start Game 1

The 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs begin on Wednesday night with three games on the schedule, but the Philadelphia Flyers have until Thursday night to make any final adjustments to their roster for the postseason.

With just over 24 hours until their Game 1 match up against the New York Rangers, the team has announced that Ray Emery will start in goal.

Flyers coach Craig Berube announced the move on Wednesday, via CSN Philly.

Emery will start in place of injured netminder Steve Mason, who was injured over the weekend when the Flyers took on the cross-state rival Pittsburgh Penguins.

For the Flyers, the quest to hold home ice in the series against New York will now fall on their back up who finished the regular season with an underwhelming record of 9-12-2 and a .903 save percentage.
