The Chicago Blackhawks rode the pads of netminder Corey Crawford through the Stanley Cup last year and he’s back to try and put in a repeat performance. But while he’s been flashing the pad a lot tonight against the St. Louis Blues, he’s given up two goals and is clinging to a one score lead.
But when Crawford is under pressure, he’s at his absolute best and we saw another big time example of that late in Game 1. On a quick attack by the Blues, and with half his vision essentially blinded by bodies in front of the net, Crawford managed to twist and contort his body, keeping the puck out.
There’s no saying he’ll be able to exactly repeat his run from last year, but the Blackhawks are clearly in good hands again this postseason.
