The first round NHL Playoff series between the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers got underway with a bang on Thursday night with the first goal coming just 7:28 into the opening period.
Taking a nice pass from Scott Hartnell, newly-extended defenseman Andrew MacDonald beat Henrik Lundquist with a slapshot from just inside the zone that just got by the Rangers goaltender for the first goal of the series.
The goal came on Philadelphia’s first shot of the game on Lundquist.
The Rangers have since tied the game up at one thanks to a goal by Mats Zuccarello, and that’s where it stands as of this posting.
