T.J. Ward: Broncos trying to be ‘one of the top defenses in the world’

The Denver Broncos were known for their high powered offense under Peyton Manning, who set passing records left and right. The theme this offseason has been all about the defense though. They’ve added New England Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib, Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware and Cleveland Browns safety T.J. Ward.

Those additions have sent a message to the league that the Broncos are all in on winning a Super Bowl  in 2014. Ward said the Broncos are trying to not only bolster their defense, but make it one of the best in the world.

“As good as the Broncos offense was last year, you see what happens when you get put up against a stout defense and an offense that can pretty much manage and make some plays here and there,” Ward said, via Tom Pelissero of USA Today. “We’re sending a message right now that we’re coming in not only trying to be one of the top offenses in the league, but one of the top defenses in the world and get that Super Bowl ring.”

Certainly playing the Broncos got a lot more intimidating this offseason. We’ve seen teams compile all-stars before only for it not to work out. We’ll see if the Broncos can use all their pieces correctly.
